What are some other initial requirements that I must meet?
Be at least 17 years of age for a rating in other than a glider or balloon.
Be at least 16 years of age for a rating in a glider or balloon.
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
What are the required minimum hours needed?
40 hours of total flying time
20 hours of flight instruction
10 hours of solo flying time
3 hours of cross country flying time
3 hours of night flight training including a cross country over 100 nautical miles with 10 takeoffs and landings to a full stop
10 hours of solo flight time including 5 hours of solo cross country flying time with one cross country of at least 150 nautical miles total distance with full stop landings
What can you do with a Private Pilot Certificate?
Allows you to fly at night
Allows you to fly any single engine category airplane (providing the proper checkout has been completed)
Makes you eligible for advanced ratings
